Conscious: "Joshua, to finish up, let's get your thoughts on the semester as a whole."

Me: "Overall the semester has been full of ups and downs and, like I said earlier, the English class has been no exception to that. At first the workload in my class seemed rather daunting and hard to complete. However, over time, I was able to get my work in on time, my projects in on time and, if anything, my work has improved quite a bit."

Conscious: "Well, moving right along, Joshua, how do you feel Project 2 went as compared to Project 1?"

Me: "In terms of grading, it went much better than Project 1. Project 2 was a QRG and I got an 89 percent on it as compared to the 83 percent I got on Project 1. I believe that this grade shift is very indicative. A QRG has conventions that are similar to an essay; a genre that I feel very comfortable writing in..."

Blog Post 15.2, Peer Review 2

For this Peer Review, I looked at the Production Schedule done by Ben Macklin. Although it is a bit late to review this portion of the project, I think it is good to review the schedule and remind Ben to keep pushing forward to complete the work needed!

The schedule is very well done. Ben used a table to organize his important dates and resources together in a small, convenient space. I will make a resource recommendation, however.

• If you absolutely need any late minute help, remember to email Professor Bottai!

• Depending on the genre you chose, look over examples to see how yours should look.

• Check the Writer's Guide for help on conventions and/or more interesting writing.

Blog Post 15.1, Project Rough Cut

Rough Cut

This is a very Rough Cut of my project; only the introduction and body section 1 are complete. The rest I will complete this week. As well, I plan on adding a piece of music to the introduction.

Please keep in mind that in this podcast, I am basically interviewing myself. I know it sounds weird, but at the same time, I also thought it was innovative. We have all had internal conflicts with ourselves doing our projects. I thought it would be interesting to try and exemplify this by "talking to myself".

Weaknesses: Project is incomplete and missing music.

Strengths: Addresses the topic well and is a good building block to start on.

Blog Post 14.5, Production Report 2

Excerpt from my first body section, Project 1:

Conscious: Overall, Joshua, how do you feel Project 1 went for you?

Me: Well, Conscious, it probably could have gone a lot better than it did. I chose to do a Video Essay; a genre which, admittedly, I didn't have a lot of experience doing. Most of the video was still imagery and my voice over it trying to explain the controversy of where Earth's water may have come from. So it was not exactly a thrilling topic or presentation for the audience.

Conscious: Well, Joshua, I'm certainly sorry to hear about that. Do you think there is anything you did particularly well with this project, however?

Me: Yes, I used a lot of sources for both my images and the information that was presented. This thorough research would help me out greatly in the projects later on in the semester. Overall, although Project 1 was mostly a disappointment for me, that was mostly the expectation heading into the process. I didn't have a very good grasp of Video Essay or the conventions that went along with it. So, in hindsight, an 83 doesn't really seem that bad to me.

Blog Post 14.4, Peer Review

For this Peer Review, I looked at the Production Schedule done by Nick Hernandez.

Overall, the schedule looks great and easy to follow. The lack of definite times, however, could be an issue.

I will make a resource recommendation:

Ensure that you gauge your time properly to get the project done. It is the final; there will be no extra time to turn in late work!!!

Make use of ThinkTank writing labs if you find yourself having writers block.

For my QRG, it helped me immensely to use an image search engine (like CC Search) to find pictures relevant to my topic.
